A new documentary by Avi Amit published on Kan, Israel’s public broadcaster, outlines the Israeli far right’s plan to resettle the Gaza Strip. The plan—spearheaded by Nahala movement leader Daniella Weiss, Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan, and others—would see cadres of settlers, mostly families, rapidly set up settlement nuclei in at least six areas in Gaza to try and create facts on the ground. Many government ministers and coalition MKs, including several from Netanyahu’s Likud party, have expressed support for these efforts, though Netanyahu himself says, at least formally, that their ideas are unrealistic and opposes resettlement.
